El Sobrante General Plan Update - Tentative Schedule of Meetings

NOTE: Save El Sobrante encourages concerned citizens to forward comments on the proposed changes in zoning - which will effectively be an 'end run' around the Downtown El Sobrante/Appian Way Redevelopment Plan - to Mr. Roche (see below) and attend all meetings and make comments, if at all possible

The Department of Conservation & Development is working with our consultant to complete the Final EIR on the General Plan Amendment (GPA) in advance of the public hearing process. It is expected that the Final EIR will be completed and released later this month, probably the last week in October. Based on a release of the Final EIR in the last week of October, the following is a tentative timeline for the hearing process of the GPA:

Note: County Zoning Administor is a meeting, not a public hearing Mon., Nov. 1, 2010, 1 p.m.
County Planning Commission (CPC) Public hearing on El Sobrante General Plan Amendment; after hearing and deliberation CPC to forward recommendation to Board of Supervisors Tues., Nov. 30, 2010, 7:00 p.m.

Note: The County Planning Commission meeting is scheduled out of normal sequence due to Thanksgiving Holiday
Board of Supervisors Public hearing on GPA and certification of EIR Board hearing date to be determined, pending completion of CPC hearing

As noted above these dates are tentavtive, and subject to change. I will know with more certainty by Nov. 16th if the County Planning Commission hearing will occur on Nov. 30, 2010 because that is when we are due to submit hearing notice for newspaper publication.
